Candidates sitting for 2016 (Kenya Certificate Secondary Examination ) KCSE exams have been assured for an equal opportunity of success as a result of elaborate measures put in place to curb exam cheating by the ministry of education. This is according to Education Principal Secretary ministry of education Dr. Bellio Kipsang.
Addressing the press in Busia where he had come to observe how the exercise is going on, Kipsang noted that the integrity in the national exams had been restored and there is no cause of doubts.
“We are all winners if we put all our efforts together as stakeholders we know we will kill this notion that Kenya is a cheating nation. Cheating cases in previous years have soiled the image of this country, the reason we should work hard to do away from the minds of the people” He said.
He noted that as ministry they will keep the momentum of ensuring that exams are done in a very transparent manner in the coming years. “I thank school heads and other stakeholders for the critical path of success we are realizing,” he said.
According to the PS his visit to Busia County was part of the exercise to engage with stakeholders in realizing that no cheating case is witnessed in this year’s national exams.
He further said there is need for the integrity of the exams to be adhered to adding that if the results is in doubt the entire system of education will also be in doubt too.
He told candidates to run clean in the exams and avoid false notion that they will excel in the exams if they take drugs adding that the exams are set within curriculum that they have already covered. “There should be no cause for alarm. You have prepared adequately for 12 years to warrant any panic and taking of substances harmful to your health thinking that that will help you in any way,”
The Permanent Secretary from Ministry of Education toured St . Mathias Busia Boys Secondary where he addressed the students in the presence of Principal Titus Isogol. He also visited Nambale Boys, Kisoko Girls, and Our Lady of mercy Busia and St Mary’s Mundika Boys Secondary.
He was accompanied by Busia County Commissioner John Chelimo, Western Regional Coordinator Nereah Olik and County Quality Assurance and Standards officer Joseph Ocheng witnessed the opening of the Exams container at 6am.
