Youth in Busia County have been urged to utilize their talents properly as a way of earning a livelihood. Speaking after giving prizes to several youth teams in the county at Korinda prison grounds yesterday,  County women representative Florence Mutua noted there is need for youths to realize that with their talents they can still earn living.

While addressing different teams in soccer and leg ball for girls, Mrs. Mutua said that it is high time the society realize that some of rich and successful people around the globe depend on their talents. According to her the early these young ones start nurturing their talents the better for their future.

The women rep noted that it is through sports events that  people will realize unity and harmony that is needed in the society. “Sports brings together people from different places and religion and by doing so we will realize the harmony needed as a county and a country at large .” she said

According to her it is the role of every leader in the country to make sure that they invest in youth and women to be able to achieve development goals. She said for that to be achieved there should be need for youth and women to be empowered economically through cultivating talents in youth and supporting them .

“As leaders we have a role to play to make sure that our youth and women become independent. We have to do what it is possible to get to that. I have started doing something about that. Iam  supporting them with these kits  of which we are sure that they are heading somewhere in future. How are we going to lead louse and hopeless youths yet we claim to be  ok?” She paused.

She was speaking after handing prizes to four teams from the county both for girls and boys who participated in Mama county tournament organized by her office.

Prison zebras for boys and Matayos American girls’ teams were awarded trophy and cash awards of 5, 000 Ksh  each after coming second position. While united juniors boys’ team from Mabale village and prison zebra girls from Korinda prison received a trophy and cash award of 10, 000 ksh each after emerging  top winners.
