Nairobi, Kenya:  The County Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee chaired by parklands high ridge, Member of County Assembly (MCA ) Jayendra Malde, and Kilimani MCA who is also deputy minority whip Moses Ogeto have initiated oversight probe into a piece of county land which was grabbed In Eastleigh. It is reported that the market land was grabbed by some traders under the watch of some county officers.
At a charged assembly committee sitting MCAs want County Executive officials led by County Attorney Lydia Kwamboka, Lands chief officer SG Mwangi, Chief valuer Zack Nyoike, Ass. Director Erick Abwao and others whose dockets could have played roles in the illegal handling of the case involving the said public land to appear and shade more light.
But while appearing, only two mentioned county officers made it to the committee much to the chagrin of the committee, which was chaired at the time by Kilimani Mca and vice Chairman Moses Ogeto. They were harshly returned back.
Members of the committee with the Majority resolved that the issue at hand is of public importance and that it would only require the presence of senior county official’s including county Attorney and chief land officers to be present.
Understanding orders bestowed on me by this assembly, I have made the following conclusions, that all the county executive officers mentioned above appear in person starting next week without fail. Said acting Chairman and Kilimani Mca Moses Ogeto in a ruling.
He went on, that all relevant documents that have been brought by the three officers present be left under the custody of the committee for further perusal. He added. And dismissed the three officers Chief valuer Mr. Zack Nyoike, Ass Director Erick Abwao, and others who were present without required documents.
The piece of land at the center of dispute situated at Eastleigh area was reverted back to the county government in 2017 by the then lands commission chaired by Mohammed Swazuri after revocation but has since been grabbed by some members of the public to the changing of the justice and legal affairs committee members.
Chairman of the committee and parklands Mca Jayendra Malde said his committee will not rest until the officers who committed fraud on the people of Eastleigh are found and brought to book..some of these officers at the county are guilty, we have invited all of them but some of them are playing games, my committee will not entertain corruption.  Said Jayendra Malde. They must come and explain. He retorted.
The committee returned the three officers and ordered them back with other officers as will be directed by the committee. Assembly hearing continues.
